Always when I use this wizard it will load up all files with exeption of one. It always refuses to complete the upload unless I remove this file. Later it is easily possible to load the respective file in an independent operation (one file only) KuK (talk) 11:37, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

The interface does not tell you WHAT is wrong and in WHICH ONE of the uploads, so I have to abandon the whole upload. And the same happens again the next time... AARGGH! When giving a category it gave me a warning - "that category doesn't exist" (it exists - swear!). (I then added the "Category:" prefix - but in the end that was exactly the wrong thing to do.) Flugaal (talk) 15:30, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

- Some testing shows that this probably has to do with the meaningless file names that you both use. Neither IMGP3487 nor DSCF8327 are particularly good descriptions of what the files depict, and such names are blacklisted. The error message could be a bit more helpful, though, to say the least, and it should not be an error at that stage, since you get to choose the Commons file name in a later step. —LX (talk, contribs) 10:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

- A known bug, it means that the name you chose to upload the file under, already is being used for a different image. Specifically, it exists with an alternate casing of some of the letters. So if you chose "Hello world.jpg", you might get this error if there already exists a "Hello World.jpg" TheDJ (talk) 08:30, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I use this tool consistently and LOVE it! But one thing that has been bothering me lately is that when I try to close the window which says "Thanks fro uploading!", I get a browser message saying that I have unsaved changes and confirming that I want to leave the page. Ich arbeite mit Firefox 14.0.1 unter windows 7 Abgesehen von den technischen Problemen finde ich den Wizard cool, mehrere Bilder auf einmal hochzuladen ist eine wesentliche Arbeitserleichterung. 3 of my 31 uploads failed with a myriad of error message; "retry failed uploads" didn't help. My impression with the new upload wizard is that, on slow connections (which is most of the world), the wizard is causing more frustration than it helps.

Geo data altitude expressed as quotient causes problems
My geo tagging device (Nikon GP-1) and other similar devices record altitudes as quotients, often (but not always) with a denominator of 1, eg. 370/1 for 370 meters above sealevel. I suspect that the device prefers to store two ints instead of one float. Now, the UploadWizard automatically imports geo data (including altitude) from the image, which is fine. But the UW considers an altitude not being a simple number to be a syntax error. So you have to change the altitude values, strip the /1 in simple cases or do the calculation in complicated cases. The copy function does not help much, because even multiple images of the same object, will have different locations and thus coordinates. So you won't override them.
My proposal & request for improvement: can you please eval the elevation value, if it's an numeric expression, it should be ok (no problem if you truncate it to whole units). We are intending to use the UW for the upcoming WLM2012 campaign in Austria, this limitation is an unnecessary inconvenience. thanks Herzi Pinki (talk) 20:46, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Allow user to change filename after 'badname' error
When a user gets a 'badname' error while trying to publish an uploaded file, there is no possibility to go back and change the file's name, nor is mentioned why the file's name wasn't accepted and especially new editors are confused/frustrated. In order to upload the file, the user has to restart the upload wizard and go through all(!) steps a second time, including upload and selecting a license. That's not very user friendly.
I suggest to explain exactly why the name isn't allowed (e.g. "Contains :") and to allow the user to go back and chose a different name. Regards,--Kilian Kluge (WMDE) (talk) 09:05, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

I attemtped to upload 18 png files, all approximately 5 MB in size. After about 12 of them had uploaded, about 4 of them had failed to generate thumbnails. Is there a file size issue? jeżeli z jakiś powodów przesłanie plików się nie powiodło - w moim wypadku - Nieznane ostrzeżenie – badfilename - zła nazwa pliku, nieprawidłowa nazwa pliku, to zamiast możliwości powrotu do formularza by poprawić nazwę, czy cokolwiek innego mam możliwość jedynie "przesłać ponownie nieudane" - i tak naprawdę się zapętlam. Powinnam móc wrócić do formularza, albo usunąć plik, albo zrezygnować i wrócić do kreatora przesłania.
Ponieważ nie mam alternatywy, muszę ponownie ładować plik, co jest operacją długotrwałą i z informatycznego punktu widzenia zbędną

Not finished
After uploading my 3 files, describing, categorizing, geotagging the pictures and inserting them into en articles, I hit Main Page and get, "You haven't finished; do you really want to leave?" or words to that effect. Skin problems; geotagging

Some feedback:
- The Upload Wizard does not work with the Classic skin. There is no indication of what the problem is in the wizard itself; it silently fails to render. The FAQ (which there is no link for) is likewise silent on the matter. There is no "troubleshooting" page listing common problems and their solutions.
- Geotagging requires the user to enter decimal values; coordinates such as "64° 8'31.67"N / 21°55'38.06"W" yields an error message.

I can't say I liked the change in the uploading tool, the old one seemed easier to use. This one fails when trying to upload several files at a time (you cannot get to the license step after the upload) and uploading a derivative file (such as a map translation) is cumbersome. Blockade des restlichen Internetzuganges
Gegenüber dem Commonist hat der neue Wizzard den Nachteil, dass er versucht mehrere Dateien gleichzeitig zu übertragen. Das führt bei schwachen Internetzugängen dazu, dass die Leitung durch den Wizzard komplett blockiert ist. es geht kein Mail und sonstiges Internet mehr. - Beim Commonist wird nur eine Datei übertragen und nicht die volle Bandbreite ausgenützt. Beim Übertragen von 20 Bildern, die manchmal bis zu 2 Stunden oder mehr da Internet blockiert ist nicht akzeptabel. This is a really annoying problem for me - I am trying to upload files after installing the Upload Wizard on my mediawiki site, since the previous files didn't have the ability to use licenses or copyright tags. I deleted the old photos, though they are still on the server since mediawiki archives old files.
When I try to upload the same files, with a new name, I get the error 'Unknown warning: "duplicate-archive"' at the very end of the process. How can I upload these files? Do I really have to go hunting for the old deleted files in my database and delete them manually? Thanks for any help.

Une fois sur cinq environ, le bouton "continuer" n'apparait pas à la fin des téléchargements, après le message "n fichiers sur n importés". Upload Wizard places {{Location}} before {{Information}} but it should be placed after.

Images not uploading

Someone has deleted images of my artwork. The reason given was as I am still alive! I should have uploaded the images. I have tried a new upload, but wiki will not accept them. The notice failed stating, Unknown warning: "duplicate-archive"
How do I overcome this and upload the new images as copyright owner..

Exelente el asistente de subida de archivos, lo confieso soy novata xd pero es entendible quise hacer las cosas bien y hacer un trabajo no perfecto pero casi cerca de serlo... me fue muy facil utilisar el asistente aunque me quejo del asunto de compartir los archivos a cualquier persona pero eso no importa aunque me hubiera gustado que mis fotografias no fueran distribuidas a cualquier individuo pero en fin ahi se las dejo para que las utilicen en lo que estimen conveniente...bendiciones :D Alicia Vera (talk) 17:58, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hallo. Ich nutze den Assistenten oft und gerne. Meist gebe ich nur eine deutsche Beschreibung. Jetzt ist mir aufgefallen, dass, wenn ich auch eine englische eingebe, und dann von der ersten Datei die Informationen auf alle kopiere, bei der zweiten und allen weiteren Dateien zwar ein deutsches und ein englisches Beschreibungsfeld da ist, beide jedoch mit 'deutsch' beschriftet sind.
