Oppose It is a stunning and very illustrative photo of these mountains. However, I prefer this version Image:Belianske Tatry from Jahňaci štít.jpg without text labels, as this can be used as base material for localizations in any language. I will therefore move this to an MVR and let it compete with that version. -- Slaunger (talk) 19:26, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Just to be very specific: With localization I refer to the general ability to use the image as base material for making translations into all relevant languages, like Polish being a specific example and possibly German, as mentioned by the nominator. -- Slaunger (talk) 20:08, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, actually, that would probably be the optimal solution. Anyway, I also understand the nominators last comment, and I agree there are pros and cons for both current versions, and there is not a clear winner IMO. -- Slaunger (talk) 21:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Comment It is possible that this peaks have names in German (some German minority used to live in the area), and maybe in Hungarian. No more I think. But names in Slovak are mostly used. --Sfu (talk) 07:01, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Slaunger is right that version without captions gives more possibilities. But what is the first need? I think it's version in Slovak. This the image that is really going to be used in articles. In German article I've found names for only two of the peaks. But whats more Germans are using Slovak name as first name (f.e. see de:Rysy, de:Gerlachovský štít). Polish articles gives Polish name as the first one. Therefore I think Poles are the only one not to use this image. --Sfu (talk) 13:04, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there seems to be something wrong with the svg file. In the thumb display the letter "á" is displaced and when I download it and try to open it in InkScape, Inkscape says the image file is corrupt. However, if it worked, at it looked practically similar to the jpg version in the review size, it would have been my preferred version. Focus in VIC is the suitability for on-line display in Wikimedia projects. -- Slaunger (talk) 19:09, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My firefox 3.0.1 is rendering it correcly. Inkscape 0.46 open it as well. I think the problem is with mediawiki. --Sfu (talk) 19:23, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the MediaWiki rendering might well be the problem when viewing in a browser. The files crashes on my Inkscape 0.46 on Win XP though. Strange. -- Slaunger (talk) 19:51, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know how to fix it. I tried uploading a version that was surely saved as plain svg. Problem is still the same. I can try other things, but it's just a shot in a dark. --Sfu (talk) 10:33, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
