Comment I wonder if the head of a "dead" animal is worth a scope. Wouldn't be the head of an animal be sufficient? There are plenty of good images. --Palauenc05 (talk) 11:11, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Palauenc05: I believe that this nomination fits into the VI scope guidelines. Hunting, killing and scavenging are important topics in Nature that appear in Wikipedia articles and other Wiki projects. These may need images of the carcasses and parts thereof. A severed head of a dead animal is very different from the head of a living animal. There are a large number of categories for dead animals CAT:Dead animals. There are valued images including dead animals such as this and this. --Tagooty (talk) 13:45, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've modified the scope to "severed head in the wild" to clearly differentiate from the head of a live zebra and a stuffed head in a museum. Opinions, please? --Tagooty (talk) 04:17, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's very unusual... Can we know why this head is there? --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 18:41, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Info @Archaeodontosaurus: We came across ~20 vultures feeding on the dead zebra on a dry, open plain. It could have been killed by lions, though given the open terrain it is possible that it was killed by a pack of African wild dogs that we found a few km away. The head was about 10 m away from the rest of the skeleton. It was striking that the backbone was picked almost clean, while the head was practically intact. Vultures were seen eating the inside of the head through the broken neck. After some time, the vultures left and we got close-up views. (See several images in "other versions".) --Tagooty (talk) 03:54, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
