Comment I don't know what to do here. Later known as “The Ellis Island of the West, in the the 1840s - 1920s Galveston was a major immigration port before Ellis Island even existed [1]. This building was build as and used as an immigration and deportee-staging facility until about 1940 when it was converted for use to a U.S. Customs Office. No category exists for its original use/purpose. Others referred to it and created the Category Custom House which is correct for its later use.
