Reason | “Yellowing” (see file description) is a common problem with old lenses, probably most prominently among Asahi's Takumars. I had the somewhat rare chance to compare two identical lenses with the only difference being that one was “de-yellowed” using UV-light. There is of course a bit of "original research" involved, but though there is probably no real scientific research available on this topic, both the phenomenon and its "cure" are well-known among photographers familiar with older equipment. -- El Grafo (talk) |
