What is Wiki Loves Mangaluru? edit

Wiki Loves Mangaluru 2024 (Wiki Loves Mangaluru) is a regional photo contest that seeks to capture the essence of Mangaluru through diverse visual narratives. From iconic landmarks to cultural ceremonies, from symbolic objects representing the city's love to heartwarming gestures, let's showcase how the people of Mangaluru express love in various facets of life and culture.
The Contest is to be held from 10 May - 10 June 2024

What happens to the photos or media after they are uploaded? edit

All images or media that are used on Wikipedia are uploaded to a website called Commons. This is a large and wonderful database of images, audio, and video files. All those media files are published under free licences – this means that they are free to be re-used by anyone as long as they say who authored the photograph or media and keep them free (under the same licence). How do I get involved? edit

It's really simple and easy, and fun!

What are the technical requirements for the pictures? edit

There are no specific technical criteria for the photos. All self-captured images meeting the basic rules and aligning with the Wikimedia Commons scope will be considered for the contest. The primary objective of Wiki Loves Mangaluru is to amass a diverse collection of images suitable for Wikipedia. Ensuring high-quality pictures is crucial for the success of your submission and the overall competition. What software will be used to upload pictures? edit

We will be using the UploadWizard simplified by a special Wiki Loves Mangaluru overlay.
Pictures can be uploaded using other tools (e.g. Commonist, but as this requires further knowledge of wiki markup and Wikimedia Commons itself).

How should I tag the images? edit

All images uploaded via the special upload wizard will be put in the Category:Images from Wiki Loves Mangaluru 2024. If you do not use the specialised upload wizard, please add the category [[Category:Images from Wiki Loves Mangaluru 2024]] to the tags so that we can identify the image as part of the contest.

There will be 3 winning pictures/videos from 4 categories, and 3 more for students participating making a total of 15 images. 2 uploaders with highest number of uploads will also receive special prizes.

The organizers accept no responsibility for the provision by the sponsors of any prizes, nor of any liability whatsoever in respect of this contest. Neither the rules nor anything on these pages amount to an offer to create legally binding relations with any of the organizers. Members of the jury and continental organizers are not eligible to receive any award (although they are otherwise welcome to contribute images).
