| Description |
The Metropolitan was designed and sold in the US, but built in the UK, from 1953-62, using Austin engines. They were available in 2 door Hardtop or Convertible. The 1st was the 1953 S1 with the 1200cc Austin A40 Devon engine. the 2nd, the 1955 S2 with the later 1200cc B series A40 Cambridge engine. The 1956 S3 got the 1500cc A50 Cambridge engine, also a new grille and the hood scoop was gone.The last model, the S4 got the 1500cc A55 Cambridge engine, and now got a deck lid, previously access was thru the rear seat. |
