The Leyland P76 was a large car that was produced by Leyland Australia, the Australian subsidiary of British Leyland, Built from 1973-75, Due to strikes and the oil crisis, Leyland Australia was in serious financial trouble before the P76 hit the showroom floors. By the time the P76 Sedan based Force 7 Coupe was ready for production, Leyland Australia had already closed down, only 10 pre production coupes survived, about 46 were crushed. 3 models were planned; the 6 cyl Force7, V8 Force 7V and top of the line Tour de France, all surviving cars were the Force 7Vs Engines; 2623cc 6 cyl from the Austin Kimberley and Tasman, or 4416 alloy V8, a derivitive of the ex Buick Rover V8 |
