Summary edit

Description

Daewoo was launched onto the Australian New Car Market in 1994 and found instant success with this, a rebadged Opel Kadett, the Daewoo 1.5i - which was available as a 3dr and 5dr hatch and 4dr sedan.

From the moment these cars entered the Australian market, they found a whole new group of buyers that could now buy a brand new car, for the price of a second hand used car! The 1.5i only lasted a few years until it was replaced by a facelifted model, which then took on the new name, Daewoo Cielo, sold in other markets as the Daewoo Nexia.

This GM/Opel car never made it to Australia, under any GM brand and so was the first time Aussies had seen the car

The second Daewoo model to entre the Australian market, was the meduim sized Daewoo Espero sedan.
