ARNHEM KAN WEER AUTOMATISCH TELEFONEREN; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 30 uit 1947.; In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd de automatische telefooncentrale in Arnhem verwoest. Na de oorlog liet de PTT op een oude Duitse bunker twee verdiepingen bijbouwen. Op de eerste verdieping werd een tijdelijke handbediende telefooncentrale ingericht; op de tweede werd tegelijkertijd begonnen aan de bouw van een nieuwe automatische centrale. De laatste is nu klaar en in gebruik genomen. De handbediende centrale is daarbij niet meer nodig. SHOTS: - groot leeg gat in de straat waar vroeger de oude centrale stond; - ext. bunker met bovenbouw; - int. handbediende centrale in bedrijf: ext. apparatuur met oa kabels en een batterij druk bewegende telefonistes achter schakelborden; - int. handbediende centrale buiten bedrijf: alles ligt roerloos en verlaten: lege stoelen en lege schakelborden; - int. automatische centrale met cu's van apparatuur.
