Freshwater Bay ca. 1:75 000; Hood Id. Gardner Bay ca. 1:75 000; Charles Id. Post Office Bay ca. 1:55 000; Albemarle Id. Tagus Cove ca. 1:75 000; Albemarle Id. Iguana Cove ca. 1:18 000; one inset torn off top left.
This chart was largely surveyed between 15 Sept and 21 Oct 1835, while Charles Darwin was making the observations of different forms of the same species on different islands which contributed to his theory of evolution. A publication date of 1841 is given. However, the Conway Bay inset was done by Midshipman G. W. P. Edwardes, HMS Daphne, who visited the islands in about 1846. |
