English: Up coal train at Cotes Park Sidings, Erewash Valley line. View NW, towards Chesterfield and the North: ex-Midland Erewash Valley main line. Seen from a train on the Down Fast between Pye Bridge and Alfreton, an Up coal (?or empties) is passing Cotes Park Sidings on its way south - typical of the constant procession of such trains and probably going to Toton Yard. It is headed by Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48371 (built 1944, withdrawn 10/67), passing an ex-WD 2-8-0 on the right. The south portal of Alfreton Tunnel is just visible far left. |
