Summary edit

Description
English: Downy serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea), bush in bloom. Also called "sarvis", or "shadbush" because it blooms in early spring when the shad are running in the rivers. It prefers moist soil, and does well at the edge of woods, leaning out toward the sunshine. Duke Forest Durham Division, Durham, North Carolina, USA.
