Description

This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea in 1964 by the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries (BCF) aboard the Townsend Cromwell, as part of the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. The cruise covered a fixed grid to the east of the main Hawaiian Islands. Materials include: bird observation data sheets, fix data, and bird abundance data. Bird observation sheets list time, species, #, dir., hgt., and remarks. At sea survey chart A lists date, position and distance data. At sea survey chart B lists summary data including: total abundance of birds, abundance of certain birds (Shearwater-Petrel-Albatross group, Tropicbirds, etc.), and abundance of flocks. At sea survey chart C includes weather and barometric data. Also includes non-original materials including a typed report and photocopied maps of the cruise route
