Notes
  • Significance: These are the most outstanding reflections of a Russian heritage that has permeated the Aleutian Chain from 1750. The cruciform style Church is the oldest of its kind in Alaska. The site was a source of missionary outreach and is associated with Bishop Veniaminov, later canonized Saint Innocent. The chapel is an example of Aleut artistry.
