  • Significance: "The rough stone plantation house over the spring" was erected ca. 1790 by Michael & Elizabeth Bachman (Baughman) and remains substantially unaltered. Remnants of an original front porch are extant. 176 acres (less roads) were originally obtained by patent from Thomas and Richard Penn to Jacob Newcomer, ca. 1782, Bachman, part of a German family that settled early in Lancaster County with extensive land holdings, purchased the property...
