| Description |
De stadsmaagd zit op een verhoging en wordt omringd door musici en zangers. Naast de verhoging zitten twee vrouwen, vermoedelijk riviergodinnen, met ontbloot bovenlichaam. Eén steunt met haar hand op een kelk waar water uitstroomt als symbool voor de Maas. Op de achtergrond het silhouet van een stad. Ontwerp voor het frontispice van de bundel Keuze uit de dichtstukken van het Roermonds letterkundig genootschap “de Lelie” (Roermond: J.J.Romen, 1858), dat verzen bevat van de volgende leden: H.J.H. Pieters, Emile Seipgens, A. Scheffer en P. de Batist. Blad 33 recto uit een schetsboek met 77 bladen (RP-T-00-471). |
