The signs were situated on the High Street, by the disabled toilet, which was down a path opposite Dennett Road. The public toilets were in a different place, further along the High Street at the junction with Sherborne Street. All three of these toilets, ladies, gents and disabled, were at risk of closure due to spending cuts by the Isle of Wight Council, who had - amongst serious controversy - proposed closing a number of the island's public toilets down.
