| Description |
English: Weymouth - Wolverhampton express puffing up out of Snow Hill Tunnel into the Station. View southward, towards Leamington/Stratford-on-Avon and the South; ex-GWR main lines. Late on a Summer Saturday a succession of expresses arrived from the South and West Coast holiday resorts. The 11.05 from Weymouth has run up via Westbury, Swindon and Oxford to terminate at Wolverhampton Low Level at 16.30 - but most of these trains ended up an hour or so late. It is headed by 4-6-0 No. 6937 'Conyngham Hall' (built 7/42, named 10/46, withdrawn 12/65). Snow Hill was almost as cavernous as its LMR neighbour, New Street: note also the litter on the track - even in those days. |
