English: Bishop's Lydeard Station, 2001. View SE, towards Norton Fitzwarren and Taunton: terminus of the heritage West Somerset Railway, the successor to the ex-GWR of the branch from Taunton to Minehead closed 4/1/71. The line was restored by the West Somerset Railway Preservation Society, commencing 28/3/76 from the Minehead end and reaching Bishop's Lydeard by 9/6/79, the line onward to the BR(WR) main line at the former being retained but rarely used. In 2009 the WSR opened a new station and triangle at Norton Fitzwarren and began to work through to there and occasionally to Taunton |
