2D kinetic simulation of magnetic field and density turbulence in collisionless accretion disk plasma around supermassive black holes. For more https://www.giannandreainchingolo.com/turbulence

Summary edit

Description
English: The figure shows the turbulent phase of a 2D ab initio kinetic simulation of the plasma in a collisionless accretion disk obtained with the OSIRIS Particle-in-Cell code. The color palette allows recognizing the intrinsic correlation between the magnetic field (blue) and the plasmoids (orange) dynamic. This turbulent regime was obtained self-consistently in the evolution of the plasma from a combination of parasitic kinetic instabilities that develops at an earlier time.
