For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.

Sollen Bücher gedruckt werden, ist die Prägung des Buches durch einen Setzer auf Metallplatten (der Verlag hat jetzt mehr als 180 000) nötig. Auch die 11 Blindenzeitungen, die der Verlag herausgibt (1952 wurden 26 000 Zeitschriftenhefte versandt), werden auf diese Weise gedruckt. in 400 Exemplaren erscheint so z.B. die literarisch-wissenschaftliche "Umschau" (ist gleich Reader's Digest), oder in (87 Exemplaren) die "Schachzeitung", oder "Der blinde Kaufmann", oder "Beiträge zum Blindenbildungswesen" (Fachorgan der blinden Geistesarbeiter Deutschlands). Ferner wereden hier auch geographische Karten hergestellt, die topographisch sehr genau sind und in Schwarz- und Blindenschrift bedruckt sind. Sinn dieser mannigfaltigen Publikationen ist, den Blinden von fremder Hilfe möglichst unabhängig zu machen.
