For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Das schwerste Zuchthaus Deutschlands, Zuchthaus Sonnenburg, die Strafanstalt für Schwerverbrecher.

Zum ersten Mal hat der Präsident des Strafvollzugs-Amts gestattet, die schwerste Strafanstalt Deutschlands, das Zuchthaus Sonnenburg bei Küstrin zu photographieren. Ca. 400 Insassen verbüssen dort eine Strafe von insgesamt ungefähr 2500 Jahre. Die Behandlung der Schwerverbrecher wird nach den modernsten Grundsätzen der Zuchthausordnung ausgeführt.
Die Gefangenen unterhalten eine eigene Druckerei, Tischlerei, Bäckerei usw. Nach Verbüssung einer gewissen Zeit werden die Strafgefangenen bei guter Führung auch mit Aussenarbeit beschäftigt.
Die Schweinezucht auf dem anliegenden Gutshof des Zuchthauses Sonnenburg.

Die Strafgefangenen, welche zu diesem Aussendienst zugelassen werden, haben sich jahrelang gut geführt.
