For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Familienszene Illus Schmidtke 8.2.51 Demokratischer Magistrat hilft Exmittierten. Der währungsbeschädigte Westberliner Speek, der mit Frau und Kindern am 1.2.51 aus seiner Wohnung in der Oudenarder Strasse 28 (französischer Sektor) von der Westberliner Verwaltung rücksichtslos exmittiert wurde, erhielt noch am Nachmittag des gleichen Tages vom Demokratischen Magristrat eine Wohnung zugewiesen. Jetzt wohnt Familie Speek in einer soeben wiederhergestellten Wohnung in der Schliemannstrasse 24 im Bezirk Prenzlauer Berg. UBz: Die beiden Kinder sind noch ganz verwundert über die schöne neue Wohnung und Mutti muss ihnen immer wieder versichern, dass jetzt kein Hauswirt Familie Speek mahr aus der Wohnung setzt.
