For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dampflok 99 6012 (BR 99), Brockenbahn Zentralbild Biscan 14.1.1953 Ein Geschenk der Eisenbahner an unsere Jugend. Für die Dauer der I. Bezirks-Wintersportmeisterschaften der Jungen Pioniere und Schüler in Schierke Mitte Januar 1953 hat die Brocken-Bahn ihren traditionellen Winterschlaf für fünf Tage unterbrochen. 5,4 Kilometer Schienenstrang mussten vom Schnee freigeschaufelt werden, damit die Bahn bis Schierke verkehren und die Jungen und Mädchen heranbringen kann. UBz: ein ungewohntes Bild: Zwischen hohen Schneewällen keucht die Brockenbahn den Berg hinan.
