For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Gotha, Josef-Ries-Straße (heute: Hünersdorfstraße), Rathausturm ADN-ZB Ludwig-30.12.82 Bez. Erfurt: Gothas Hauptmarkt mit seinen zum Teil hundert Jahre alten Häusern gilt als Flächendenkmal. Deshalb bemühen sich Stadtväter, Abgeordnete, Bauschaffende und Einwohner um die Erhaltung dieser wertvollen Bausubstanz. Die alten Straßen bieten einen schönen Anblick - wie hier die Josef-Ries-Straße mit dem Rathausturm im Hintergrund. Zugleich werden im Zentrum Neubauten errichtet und sinnvoll mit dem Alten verbunden. Angehörige der Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen in Weimar wirken bei dieser Aufgabe mit.
