Merseburg, Burgstraße, Brunnen ADN-ZB Lehmann 21.9.1983 Bez. Halle: Dieses architektonisch reizvolle Ensemble entstand nach den Rekonstruktionsmaßnahmen 1977-80 an der Burgstraße in Merseburg. Vor der Domapotheke, ein Barockbau aus der 2. Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts, hat ein modernen Brunnen aus der Wrkstatt des Hallenser Bildhauers Prof. Martin WETZEL seinen Platz erhalten. Die über 50.000 Einwohner zählende Industriestadt Merseburg beging in diesem Jahr den 1150. Jahrestag ihrer Gründung. Die Stadt entwickelte sich in den vergangenen 30 Jahren zum ökonomisch-kulturellen Zentrum des Industriegebietes Leuna- Buna-Geiseltal, das vor allem durch den Braunkohleabbau und die chemische Grossindustrie geprägt ist.
