For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Neubrandenburg, Treptower Tor ADN-Bartocha 11.4.90-Neubrandenburg. Das schönste der vier Neubrandenburger Tore ist das Treptower Doppeltor. Das Innen-, das Außentor und der 3,50 Meter hohe Wehrgang zeugen vom vollendeten handwerklichen Können seiner Erbauer im 14. Jahrhundert. Unsymmetrisch angeordnete Blendnischen und darüberlliegende Rosetten schmücken das Außentor. Im höheren Innentor konnte man früher vom oberen Wehrgang das Vorgelände weit überblicken und anrückende Feinde rechtzeitig melden. Seit über 100 Jahren hat das Neubrandenburger Museum sein Domizil im Treptower Tor. Neubrandenburg heißt auch Stadt der vier Tore, weil die mittelalterliche Befestigungsanlage vollständig erhalten ist. .
