For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Leipzig, Bürgerinitiative für die Pleiße, Kunst ADN-Friedrich Gahlbeck 16.11.90 Leipzig: Die Pleiße soll wieder an das Tageslicht. Der Matrose hält nicht nach Land sondern nach Pleißewasser Ausschau. Hier verlief bis Anfang der fünfziger Jahre die Pleiße. Danach wurde sie unterirdisch in Röhren verlegt. Zahlreiche Straßennamen und Bezeichnungen wie Angermühle und Karl-Teuchnitz-Brücke erinnern an den Verlauf. Eine Bürgerinitiative stellte jetzt diese Figuren auf und markierte mit Pfählen den Flusslauf.

Bei dem Gewässer handelt es sich um den Pleißemühlgraben. Die Aufnahme entstand in Höhe Dittrichring 7/Lurgensteins Steg gegenüber der Thomaskirche.
