Zentralbild Zimmermann 31.05.1957 Spitzensportler zur Volkswahl am 23. Juni.

Waltraut Paluszkiewicz (SC Einheit Berlin) während des Trainings im Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark. Die Sportlehrerin an der Hochschule der Deutschen Gewerkschaften in Bernan war 1955 DDR-Meisterin im Weitsprung. In diesem Jahr will sie Stärker als Fünfkämpferin in Erscheinung treten. Zur Volkswahl am 23. Juni meinte sie:"Zur Zeit der Wahlen in der OSR war ich zur Kur in diesem Nachbarland der DDR. Ich habe dort miterlebt, wie die Wahlen durchgeführt wurden und war besonders davon beeindruckt, das die meisten Leute bereits in den Vormittagsstunden des Wahltages von ihrem Wahlrecht Gebrauch gemacht hatten. Das zeugt von der politischen Interessiertheit der Bevölkerung. Ich glaube bestimmt, auch bei uns wird die Wahl so gut organisiert und die Wahlbeteiligung so gut sein. Wen ich wählen werde, wollen sie wissen? Natürlich wähle ich die Kandidaten der Nationalen Front!"
