English: 14.08.1961, Erection of the Berlin Wall. GDR borderguards and members of a Combat Group of the Working Class at the border of the Berlin sector. Note the Combat Group members are still equipped with german WW2 Era Mauser 98K carabines. Original caption reads: "Securing the borderline. In socialist combat-collective stand the comrades of the peoples army, the combat groups and the peoples policeforce at the borders of Berlin on the guard for peace. Publication only with clearance by the pressoffice of the MDI"
