For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Tre-Sz 1.8.1963 IV. Deutsches Turn- und Sportfest feierlich eröffnet. Das IV. Deutsche Turn- und Sportfest und die V. Pionierspartakiade wurden am späten Abend des 1. August 1963 in Leipzig feierlich eröffnet. Gemeinsam mit etwa 35 000 Turnern, Sportlern und Pionierern hatten sich Tausende Leipziger Bürger zu Füßen des Völkerschlachtsdenkmals im Südosten der Feststadt versammelt. UBz.: Auf dem Wege zur Entzündung der Pylonen. Der Europameister über 800 m, Manfred Matoschewski, sprach die Verpflichtung der Sportler und anschließend entzündete die zweifache Olympiasiegerin, Ingrid Krämer, das Festfeuer. (Schaar) |
