For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Fred Döring, Wolfgang Heine Zentralbild Wendorf Ma-Ga 1.12.63 Leichtathleten ehren Willi Sänger Seit sieben Jahren treffen sich die Leichtathleten zum traditionellen Willi-Sänger-Gedenklauf in Berlin. Sie ehren damit einen der aktivsten Sportler des Arbeitersportvereins Fichte Südost und aufrechten Widerstandskämpfer, der am 27. November 1944 im Brandenburger Zuchthaus von fachistischen Henkern ermordet wurde. Rund 700 Aktive stellten sich am 1.12.63 im Berliner Plänterwald dem Starter und ermittelten in 13 Wettbewerben die Sieger. UBz: Den Hauptlauf über 7500 m der Männer gewann Fred Döring (ASK Vorwärts Berlin Nr. 150 links) vor Wolfgang Heine (Nr. 194) vom SC Leipzig. Beide beendeten den Lauf mit klarem Vorsprung.
