For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB Repro-10.5.76 Berlin Gemälde im Palast der Republik- Zahlreiche bildenden Künstler haben unseren Palast der Republik durch eine Fülle von Kunstwerken bereichert. Bernhard Heisig wählte Ikarus zur Symbolfigur für Kühnheit und Entdeckerdrang der Menschen. In komplizierten Verschränkungen erinnern Bildzitate und historische Gestalten an den opferreichen Aufstieg der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis, die immer wieder als Ketzerei verfolgt wurde. So wäre der Flug zu den Sternen undenkbar ohne jene Art von Himmelsstürmern, auf die ein Kämpfer der Pariser Komune von 1871 verweist. Ikarus wird bedrängt von einer abstürzenden Flugmaschine mit Balkenkreuz. Fehlgeleitet taumeln die Heere aus dem brennenden Altantis in die Fluten, aber über ein wunderbar leuchtendes Meer segeln immer neue Columbusse in unerschlossenen Fernen. |
