For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Berlin, Sandmännchen
ADN-ZB/Senft/9.11.79/Berlin: Zum 20. Geburtstag des Sandmännchens/ Er wird am 22.11.79 zwanzig Jahre alt und bleibt doch ewig jung, der Liebling der Kinder, der allabendlich per Bildschirm den Gutenachtgruß bringt. Jung bleiben auch die Mitarbeiter im Trickfilmstudio des Fernsehens der DDR, weil ihnen die Arbeit mit dem lustigen kleinen Gesellen und seinen Freunden Spaß macht. Dort sind u. a. der "Vater" des Sandmännchens, Gerhard Behrendt (r.), Werkstattleiterin Diethild Dräger (l.) und Puppengestalterin Gabriele Baier tätig. Und wer nur ahnte, daß es verschiedene Sandmännchen gibt, der hat nun den Beweis. In den Schubfächern der Puppenwerkstatt sind Sandmännchenpuppen für unterschiedliche Rollen "archiviert".
