For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Deutsch: Die doppelten "Kolbenringe" an beiden Ärmelaufschlägen der Uniformjacke kennzeichnen den Uniformträger als SS-Mann (im Range eines SS-Hauptscharführers (OR-7)) in der Funktion als "SS-Stabsscharführer" oder "Spieß" (Kompaniefeldwebel).
English: The double "piston rings" on both cuffs (of sleeves) on the uniform jacket identify the carrier of the uniform as SS-Mann (with the rank of SS-Hauptscharführers (OR-7)) in the position of a "SS-Stabsscharführer" or "Spiess" (company sergeant).
