Summary edit

Description
English: An Edinburgh Trams tram and a Lothian Buses bus on Princes Street. At this stage the tram line had yet to open - daylight running along the full route had only just started, this city centre section being the last to be completed. The tram, No. 277 in the fleet, has just left the Princes Street stop (on the left) heading east (to the right). The vertical line of white lights on the pole is the tram signal, set to 'proceed', which allows the tram to leave the stop. A few yards ahead, another is also set to 'proceed', which is either for the pedestrian crossing, or the road junction with The Mound/Hanover Street. The bus is No. 68 (reg. SK52 OJN), a Dennis Dart/Plaxton Pointer, working route 36 to Ocean Terminal. Both vehicles are wearing the Transport for Edinburgh common branding introduced in December 2013, which uses a common logo device and typeface, and a livery which shares the traditional Edinburgh bus colours of madder and white. For the buses, this simply involved changing the logo and adding Transport for Edinburgh branding above the doors, which in its totality was presumably a barely noticeable change from the livery introduced in 2010. For the trams however, this was their first proper livery (two different trial schemes based on the bus fleet having been applied to both the replica display tram and real tram No. 252). As well as there being much more white on the trams, one notable difference between the schemes is the use of a silver relief band on the tram, but a gold one on the bus (the scheme on No. 252 having featured gold).
