  • Dansk: Johan Frederik Rost (... - 1843) var politilæge og desuden ivrig amatørmusiker og spillede kammermusik sammen med Eckersberg. De to mænd mødte øjensynlig første gang hinanden i forbindelse med en lægekonsultation den 12. juni 1818 (Dagbøger, bd. 1, p. 145). Rost omtales første gang som "vor Ven" den 14. juni 1820 (ibid., p. 171). Herefter nævnes han meget hyppigt i dagbogen indtil sin død i 1843 (ibid., p. 997).
