| Description |
English: The Sun Inn bus stop, Middle Road, Calbourne, Isle of Wight, for westbound services. At the time of this photo, Southern Vectis route X11 and Wightbus routes 35 and 36 served the stop. The stop used to be served by Southern Vectis route 7, but due to continuing problems with the reimbursement rate for concessionary free travel, from 5 September 2010 route 7 was revised. The previous service that alternated between serving Calbourne, Newbridge, Wellow and Thorley and Shalfleet, Cranmore and Bouldnor was stopped, with all journeys running via Shalfleet, then Wellow and Thorley. This left Calbourne, Newbridge, Cranmore and Bouldnor with no bus service. To compensate, Wightbus routes 35 and 36 were extended from their former termini of Newtown and Brighstone respectively to Yarmouth via Calbourne, Newbridge, Cranmore and Bouldnor, to provide a limited replacement for route 7. The stop used to be served by Southern Vectis route 11, which ran directly between Newport and Freshwater via the Middle Road. The service was withdrawn from 20 December 2009, but from 18 April 2010 a new limited stop commuter route X11 started, running from Freshwater to Newport in the mornings and back again in the evenings. |
