| Description |
English: Canterbury West station, 1984. View northward of the entrance on the Up side, towards Minster and Ramsgate: ex-SE&CR (London - Tonbridge) - Ashford - Minster - Ramsgate line. The building was the original terminus of the Canterbury & Whitstable line of 1830, which closed to passengers 1/1/31 (goods 1/3/63). Until 12/40 there was also a branch to Shorncliffe, from Harbledown Junction (c. one mile to the left), taken over by War Department until 1947. |
