English: Inside Baseball Field 1 of Central Park North Meadow, north of the 97th Street Transverse near the Upper West Side, Manhattan. My most recent memory of this field is playing a game against the now-defunct Manhattan Graphics High School. A college professor of mine once pondered aloud what it would be like to play baseball in Central Park, thinking it would be great. Well, professor, it's not as great as you think. On the one hand, the rocks along the baselines are cool, but on the other hand the dirt is meant for the beach and not the diamond. |
