Mapa histórico de Colombia, denotando sus límites y su división administrativa.

El presente mapa comprende la división político administrativa de Colombia en el año 1942. Algunas entidades territoriales, como las comisarías del Amazonas, Caquetá y de Arauca, cambian sus límites ampliando su jurisdicción.

En este mapa se muestran las capitales de las entidades territoriales que componían el país en el año 1942. Los municipios son los que tenía el país en el año 1938.

Las fronteras nacionales están trazadas en base a los diferentes tratados que se llevaron a cabo entre 1890 y 1993, donde se definieron las fronteras terrestres con Venezuela, Brasil, Panamá, Ecuador, Perú, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Haití y República Dominicana. Las fronteras subnacionales están trazadas según mapas históricos de mediados del siglo XX.
