Notes
  • Significance: The study area is in west-central Texas at the confluence of the Concho and Colorado Rivers. This is cattle and sheep ranching land which encompasses a territory of about 19,000 acres located at a point where Concho, Coleman, and Runnels Counties meet. For centuries various Indian groups considered the rich bottomland and rough uplands their home. In later times, the Lipan Apache and roving Comanche returned again and again to the area, finally to be driven away in the 1870s.
