English: Two 1964 World's Fair benches in a chess table setup in the eastern half of Corona Golf Playground, across from Flushing Meadows–Corona Park proper at 111th Street and 46th Avenue in Corona, Queens. The park is named after the short-lived golf course that was created on the Corona Ash Dumps before being turned into the grounds for the 1939 World's Fair. Formerly the westernmost two-block tract of the ash dumps, the site was developed along with the Flushing Meadows World's Fair Grounds in the late 1930s as a park, never used for World's Fair exhibits. The park in its current state opened in 2009 after renovations. |
