Description

This folder contains hydrographic data from Smithsonian Cruise Number 85 on the Pacific Ocean in March 1964, with a focus on temperature and salinity. Data points for bucket temperature (°C) and bucket salinity (‰) are plotted on a hand-drawn map; isotherms and isohalines on the map appear to have been extrapolated from the data points. The folder also includes a photocopy of a table, "Smithsonian cruises hydrographic data," which compiles hydrographic data from Cruise 85. Fields include cruise number, station number, LZT, day, month, year, lat., long., depth in meters, salinity (‰), water temp (°C), and BT station number. Data were collected within the area approximately bounded by 12° to 20° N and 161° to 173° W, at depths from 1m to 130m
