Glattdeckdampfer "Hohenklingen"
Description
DS "Hohenklingen" wurde 1870 von Escher Wyss zum Preise von Fr. 116‘485.- für die Schaffhauser Gesellschaft erbaut. Indienststellung am Weihnachtstag. Bereits nach 2 Jahren wurde das Schiff wegen Frequenzrückgängen für Fr. 70‘000.- an die württembergische Dampfschiffverwaltung verkauft. Es verkehrt bis 1877 ab Friedrichshafen unter dem Namen "Christoph", danach als "Mömpelgard" auf dem Bodensee. Um die Jahrhundertwende kursiert das Schiff wieder teilweise auf dem Untersee und Rhein und Ende 1901 wird das Schiff von den Schaffhausern zurückgekauft und erhält wieder den Namen "Hohenklingen". Das Schiff bleibt bis und mit 1956 im Fahrplanverkehr aktiv. Im Oktober 1957 fährt der Dampfer noch in eigener Kraft von der Werft in Langwiesen bei Schaffhausen nach Kressbronn zum Abbruch
