| Description |
English: Site of former Filey Holiday Camp station, 1992. View northward from the lane to Airy Hill Farm off the A165: ex-LNER (NE Section) branch from Filey, to buffer-stops off to the right. With four long (uncovered) platforms, this station was the largest railway installation in the country provided for the massive surge of seaside holiday-makers after World War 2. It was opened on 10/5/47, but lasted only until 17/7/77 by which time most people had cars and/or were going abroad for their holidays. |
