Summary edit

Description
Eesti: Nii nagu Hindudel Indias on ajurvedas (India rahvaravi) jumalus Dhanvantari, kes tuli maa peale ja õpetas inimestele ajurveda teadust, nii on juveliiridel (ehtekunstnikel) jumalanna Solotar, haldjas mao sabaga, kes uskumuse järgi kaitseb nende tööd, tööriistu, nende loomingut ja kõiki maailma väärisasju.

Solotar on avatar ehk jumaluse kehastus maa peal.

Japipur on India vana kuningriik, mida kutsutakse Kunsti Emaks.

English: Like in Ayurveda where Hindus have God Dhanvantari who descended on the Earth to teach this knowledge called Ayurveda, their jewellers have Goddess Solotar, a fairy with a snake tail, who was believed to protect jewellers’ work, creation and all the treasures in the world.

Solotar is an avatar. Solotar is the Goddess of jewellery and jewellers and all the treasures (precious gemstones, watches and other treasures, and money as well). She is golden and looks like a fairy with wings but instead of legs she has a snake tail and she is always wearing a golden crown decorated with the most precious gemstones. She is the avatar of Snake King who lived near Jaipur over 500 years ago. Jaipur is a beautiful old Indian kingdom called the Mother of Arts. Jaipur is a major hub for arts and crafts and a large exporter of gold, diamonds and stone jewellery.

Snake King was passionate about jewellery, he liked all precious things that had value and shine, and he had a big treasure collection in his cave like the treasure cave of Ali Baba and his 40 thieves. Snake King took possession of all the treasures protected with snake-binding spell (The Naga Bandham) after their owner paid the debt of nature (died). No one except Snake King could touch the treasure protected with the spell. If anyone tried to steal it with a wrong spell, snakes would come from everywhere and attack them or they would face some other big misfortune that would always end with death. Legends say that Snake King also owned the rare stone called the parasmani. Everything made of iron that is touched by this stone turns into gold. Snake King lived on the high mountain in the deep cave near the Monkey Temple (Galta Ji). When he went out at night to hunt using the light of parasmani to attract insects, people could see the bright light on the mountain for some time.

One day Snake King disappeared and so did the entrance to the treasure cave. Nobody knows where this entrance is but many old people say that the cave is in the mountain called Aravalli Hills 10 km from Jaipur and where pilgrims often see the bright light at nights.

Goddess Solotar was born 45 days after his death near the place where Snake King had his Kingdom .

Goddess Solotar is believed to protect all jewellers and bring them good luck. That is the reason why goldsmiths keep a Solotar’s statue or picture in their workshops and jewellers in their showrooms. If someone steals from the place under Goddess Solotar’s protection, they will get bad karma for seven lifespans for themselves and their entire family and most probably will meet their death by snakebite. Solotar increases creativity and helps to communicate with the mystical Universe to create the most beautiful works of art. Solotar improves vision and coordination as every jeweller should have good vision and good coordination to create jewellery. She protects jewellers and their tools and all the treasures – jewellery, precious stones and money – from a bad eye and thieves. Goddess Solotar is the owner of all the treasures in the Universe giving them and their masters full protection.

Jewellers pray to Goddess Solotar for good luck in business and protection by performing their daily rituals usually in the morning before starting their work and in the evening after finishing their work. They keep Goddess Solotar’s golden statue in their shop and chant a special puja mantra for Solotar every morning and evening to show her their gratitude and to have Goddess Solotar to protect and help them.

People believe that having Goddess Solotar with them, their jewellery and other valuables (as watches, money, etc) will be protected. Many keep a Goddess Solotar’s statue, pendant or picture in the safe with their valuables. To give the power to their valuables they chant the mantra of Goddess Solotar and perform rituals to attract more wealth to their homes.
