Summary edit

Description
English: Grade II* listed Parish Church of St Ellyw, Llanelli. Viewed across Bridge Street. The name of the town Llanelli (meaning the area around the church of St Elli (or Ellyw) is derived from this location. The earliest surviving documents referring to a church on this site are from the 11th century. The Church in Wales church seen here is the result of various restorations and modifications. The oldest surviving parts of the church are the octagonal font (probably medieval) and the early 16th century tower. The church (except the tower) was rebuilt in 1905-1907. Grade II* listed in November 1964.
