English: Nottingham - Plymouth express near Haresfield. View northward, towards Gloucester on joint ex-Midland & GW Birmingham - Bristol and ex-GW Cheltenham etc. - Swindon main lines. (See other scenes at Haresfield and Standish Junction for route details). On Summer Saturdays the 07.30 Nottingham (Midland) - Bristol ran as two trains, one to Bournmeouth West via Bath the other through to Plymouth. By 1961, Rebuilt 'Royal Scot' 7P 4-6-0s were supplanting the 'Jubilees': here we have No. 46112 'Sherwood Forester' (built 10/27, rebuilt 9/43, withdrawn 5/64). |
